Das Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) ist aus der Fusion des ehemaligen Hahn-Meitner-Instituts Berlin (HMI) und der Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft für Synchrotronstrahlung (BESSY) hervorgegangen. Forschung am HZB gliedert sich in folgende vier Bereiche: Solarenergieforschung, Großgeräte, Magnetische Materialien und Funktionale Materialien. Das Helmholtz-Zentrum betreibt zwei wissenschaftliche Großgeräte: den Forschungsreaktor BER II für Experimente mit Neutronen und den Elektronenspeicherring BESSY II, der hochbrillante Synchrotronstrahlung vom Terahertz- bis in den Röntgenbereich erzeugt. The NIST WWW High Temperature Superconductors database (WebHTS) provides evaluated thermal, mechanical, and superconducting property data for oxide superconductors. The range of materials covers the major series of compounds derived from the Y-Ba-Cu-O, Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O, Tl-Sr-Ca-Cu-O, and La-Cu-O chemical families, along with numerous other variants of the cuprate and bismuthate materials that are known to have superconducting phases. The materials are described by specification and characterization information that includes processing details and chemical compositions. Physical characteristics such as density and crystal structure are given in numeric tables. All measured values are evaluated and supported by descriptions of the measurement methods, procedures, and conditions. The NASA Astrophysics Data System Abstract Service provides a powerful search engine for each of its four bibliographic databases: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Instrumentation, Physics and Geophysics, ArXiv Preprints. Each database contains abstracts from articles and monographs published in the different disciplines. The databases cover all the major journals, many minor journals, conference proceedings, several Observatory reports and newsletters, many NASA reports, and PhD theses. Users can query the database by author, astronomical object name (astronomy database only), words in the title, and words in the abstract text. Full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature can be browsed through a Browse interface.
